error geo-comp-addr: cylinder number is too big (2127 > 1023)

my pc spec:

celeron 366
64 mb
abit mother board
have win2000, nt and 98 installed already

had no problem with RH6.0 doing the same.
fresh install RH6.2 - could not get it to boot using lilo and could
not boot from nt/win2000 by using bootsec.lyn (created from boot
floppy or hdc1).
hdc1 (2nd hard drive first partition) is the partition where i
installed RH6.2 (RH6.0 previously), running lilo in sbin i got the
above msg and if i try to have the boot record install in hdc1 a get a
msg saying that hdc1 is no the first disk - then cylinder number is
too big (2127 > 1023)

try just win98 and the RH6.2 - lilo is installed in MBR, but when
started pc - just get l (ilo) and then 000s

could anyone tell me if its the kernal or lilo is doing this
