FWIW, I've been happy with Linux's performance on my Compaq Presario
1200-XL106 notebook. This thing does use some fairly bleeding-edge
technology, but there are drivers for all of it under Linux. I've had
no reliability problems under Linux. (Win98, OTOH, frequently locks up
when returning from sleep mode.) It uses an AMD K6-2 CPU. For details,
