re Rhat Linux to MS SQL server connectivity

We are going to use a Linux box for intranet, but the databases are on a
group of NT boxes (MS SQL servers).
Options for connecting seem to be; Java with middleware, JavaScript with
IIS, CGI/PERL, or some commercial product using someone's ODBC.
We are planning to use what we learn for later when we set the internet up
with a Linux box.
My question: IS there any other options?
