>I have a Dell Latitude CSX and I am having a hard time configuring X on it . >Can someone help me. I don't know which distribution you have but I have had the same problem using SuSE 6.3. The Dell laptop (I am not sure which version) had a Neomagic video card with 896 KB (!), which only supports 800*600*256. Trying higher resolutions is a recipe for disaster! The other problem is that using a separate monitor (docking station) didn't work, because it couldn't work at the refresh rate selected with autodetection for the video card (88Hz). Using Sax (Suses setup utility) with autodetect functioned correctly (after I deleted the incorrect configuration file). If you have a different utility, you can only use this information as a rough guide of course ;-) Good luck! Evert
