It seems that the 3com external cable modem is not very happy with linux.
I am running RedHat 6.1 w/ updated files.

I have an Aopen (realtek chipset) NIC and
an Linksys (tulip chipset), both 10/100 NIC cards.

My cable provider is Charter Communications and the modem they gave me is
the 3com external.
It seems as though it will not communicate with my linux OS. I see the
"packets" light flash every once in a while when I reconfigure my network
settings, but for the most part it does not work. I can not do one thing on
the internet.
If I set up DHCP, eth0 does not enable at startup, if I hard code the
information (IP/Default Gate, etc), eth0 enables, however http does not
enable at startup.
I tried testing the NIC cards, linux sees them alright and I can ping it
from another computer, if I have it on a local network.
The only problem it is having is basicly the 3com cable modem.

I am out of options on this, will I basicly have to tell my cable provider
to give me a new cablemodem or am I missing something?
