hey, i just installed linux and i'm learning it, extremely slowly, but
learning it, i'd like to make it my main OS but i really can't, because i
have a winmodem...anyone know how or if i can get a riptide (sound
card/rockwell chipset winmodem together) to work with linux?  i've been told
it's a total brick wall because they won't release the source code, but then
i've been reading about linmodem drivers as well, so if anyone sees a
compatible driver please tell me about it!  also, i'm using an old presario
1500 monitor, drivers will not work for it in win, it sees it as a generic
monitor and apparantly not in linux either, xwindows is a no go because of
this.  i guess it's a good thing so i can learn the text and not just ignore
it like a windows user.  anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated, i
just wanna get online so i can play and learn.
