Xwindows won't start

My problem:

I have my video card configured corectly + Other things I run "startx" on
the
command line and what I get in reply is:

execue failed for /etc/x11/x (error no 2 (or 3 if in root))
no such proccess
_x11TransSocketUNIXConnect : Can't Connect : errno = 111

And then back to bash#

any one seen this message before, or have any clue how to resolve it please
