I have posted numerous posts on how to install a CD Writer and it never gets me anywhere. I am aware about the HOW TO for CD Writers but everytime I read it, I am lost after about the first page. I kind of know what I have to do to start but can't figure out how to start. I made a mistake when buying a CD Writer and got the IDE instead of the SCSI, which I know that Linux doesn't support IDE so you need to load a SCSI emulator. I cannot find a How To on SCSI emulators. Can someone just e-mail me back with an outline or a flow chart of exactly what steps to take to make a IDE CD Writer (HP 7200 if you care) to work with Linux Mandrake 7. I am running one of the latest kernals. (It actually finally works with my ATI Rage 128!!!!) If you really want to can e-mail me back with detailed directions how to do it from start to finish if you would like. I am Linux illiterate. The only reason I have got it set up as nice as now is many many many times of trial and error of reinstalling and learning from mistakes. But I can't even start getting the CD Writer setup. Thanks A LOT!!!!!! David dmorlow@mtu.edu
