installing multiple Linux

Hi,

I'm just a beginner in Linux, and I'm trying to find my way with RedHat
Linux and Corel Linux (Corel because it seems to setup very easy, and RedHat
to learn a bit more).
What I'm trying to do is having Windows 98 (for some applications I can't
miss yet), Corel Linux and RedHat together on my PC, booting with BootMagic
(from PowerQuest, comes with PartitionMagic)

After installing Corel Linux, my RedHat doesn't work anymore (Kernel Panic),
and Corel Linux always starts with a kind of bootmanager; I'd like to use
BootMagic for that, but each time I go into Windows and set BootMagic
active, I can't boot Corel Linux anymore ... Any idea's how to do this ?

Another question: how do I arrange my partitions best ? For now, It's like
this:

1. Linux Exf2 (Corel Linux) 1GB
2. Linux Exf2 (RedHat Linux) 1GB
3. Windows Fat32 (5GB)
and then I have 15GB left. Should I put some directories on a separate
partition (/home, /var, /usr, /usr/local) ? I don't even know what the
difference between these is or what their purpose is ... If somebody could
explain, I would be very grateful ..
Can Corel Linux and RedHat Linux share that kind of partitions (or other
partitions, or should I set them hidden in BootMagic ?)
I also would set another Fat32 partition, to put data on that should be
accessible from Windows and Linux (I thought to put that one last).

Thanks for any help and/or suggestions,

Stefan.
