It's surprisingly easy. Make sure your NIC is recognized by Linux, one way to do that is to go to console and type "cat /proc/net/dev" it should pull up all your interfaces and give you the IRQ, MAC, I/O etc info, that way you know you'r card is working. Next type in netcfg and assign an IP address. You can assign the other things but they wont matter if you're not getting outside your LAN. Next you have to run Samba. Type "rpm -q Samba" to see if it's installed, if it isn't, install it. Make sure you add a user to your linux box with the same user name and password as what you're using to log into your windblows box. After you get Samba running on boot go to console and type "smbclient '//ip of your windblows box/homes' -U myuid. Replace the myuid with the user id of your windblows box. If you get a response like this "smb: \>" type "ls" and Enter, you'll get a list of files, now you know Samba is working. Next, type "smbpasswd -a myuid" and type in the password when prompted. Now start sharing. Hope this helps. Life is like a box of chocolates, we all end up in somethings's belly.
