I had installed Mandrake 6.1 with my old Creative 48X CD-Rom, and ATI Expert@work 99 using the Mach 64. My CD-Rom drive died, and I bought a DVD. Does Linux (mandrake) support a Tobisha DVD Rom (8X)? Also, since ATI Expert@work 99 has 8MB, I had to upgrade t0 32 MB. I should have done research first to see if Linux has a driver for 32MB viddeo cards, but I didn't. I bought an ATI 2000. Has the same drivers as the 128Xpert 99 SD AGPRage Model. My Linux HATES the Mach 64, and I had to re-install the OLD AGP card to manualy tell Linux to boot to Console, and NOT to go to X. I now have the need to learn how to install a Video Driver for Linux, and Find a Working Driver. Anyone have the same experience, and/or driver with instructions for a Newbie?? Any help appreciated Please E-Mail me with a response, beause I have a hard time finding a response in all the messages. Thanks Again -James jzone@cyberlink.bc.ca
