i'm having some trouble with windows 98 and mandrake linux 6.0 dual-booting on a Dell OptiPlex system... the problem is, it don't work :)... seriously, it came with Win98 pre-installed... i used linux's fdisk to repartition the drive into 5Gb for win and 1Gb for linux (i'm only experimenting with linux right now), plus a 100Mb swap partition for linux... as soon as I finished installing linux, i went to boot into win to get my sound card specsm... problem was that windows crapped out with some huge registry error... so I re-installed windows, and then of course the install over-wrote lilo in the MBR.... i used my handy boot disk to load linux and re-install lilo, but i got an error with the partition... i re-installed mandrake, cause the pre-installed ver of win98 was screwed up from the beginning, so i thought that maybe it wouldn't screw up windows when i re-installed linux this time... i was wrong, although windows managed to recover... when i booted up into windows it ran some registry scanner and fixed some shit, then windows booted fine... so then i booted into linux again, and i got the same damned partition error... does anybody know what might be causing this trouble?? PS- its Windows 98 second edition
