I have the same problem. Altough my monitor is supported in linux, and my gfx adapter (MAG XJ700T 17" and Voodoo Banshee) X seems to downgrade my monitor a little bit. On 1024x768 I get 75hz when my monitor can handle 85, and when I use 1152x864 I get 64 or 65 hz. Ouch. Also, have anyone got an URL for a good burning program for Gnome, KDE or simply X?
