ATI mobility and Linux

Has anyone succussfully installed linux on a gateway 9300.  I was able
to get it loaded, but the video card is not supported, so I have no
windows managers.  Anyone know of any tricks to make it work.  The video
card is the ATI rage mobility (I think)  with 8MB sgram.
