Hello all, I have a home built system (I will list the components that are pertinent to the question). I have a ASUS P2B with BIOS rev. 9 (latest), Intel Celeron with 256k L2 Cache and Canon BJC 5100 printer. Here is my problem. A few weeks ago I turned on my computer and the printer that I had at the time, Canon BJC 4000. and immediately the lights on the printer were all flashing with the error light going on as well. Well I re-booted (cold boot) and when the computer lit up it got a quarter or halfway through its POST when it stopped dead. I unplugged the printer cable from the computer and then it worked, ok the printer crapped fine so I got a new one (BJC 5100). Now when I booted up the machine it was fine......then when I was working in Word, the machine just froze. I then unplugged the printer cable fearing that the port itself was damaged. this time that didn't work and trust me I tried SEVERAL reboots, the machine would start up but the monitor would not light up nor was there any POST beeps, it wasn't until I removed the Processor started the machine...shut the machine back off re-insert processor and it worked. To get the printer to work I plugged the cable back into the computer after Windows was fired up, and the printer is working, but if I shut the machine off I may not get it running again. I should mention that if I leave the printer cable unplugged from the computer, everything is fine. I also purchased a new centronix cable just to discount that as my problem. Any and all help is appreciated. I'm assuming that my LPT port is shot, and I'm looking at a new mobo. TIA Dwayne
