🚀 go-pugleaf

at first i was unable to startx or xinit due to display.  then i discovered
xf86config.  now i can startx, but my machine locks up as soon as it loads
completely.  xinit does the same thing.  i've configured the xserver as
close as possible.  the only thing i might have muffed up is the clock
chipset for my video card.  i chose not to use a clock setting.

anyways, after looking through news groups and all sorts of web pages, i've
discovered that nvidia says to download XFree86-3.3.3.1-1.rpm and
XFree86-Libs-3.3.3.1-1.rpm.  and it also says to download
RIVA-X(-GLX)-glibc-i386(-dyn).tar.gz OR
RIVA-X(-GLX)-libc5-i386(-dyn).tar.gz.

will XFree86(-Libs)-3.3.3.1-49.rpm (the rh6.0 original) do the job, or do i
have to use the .1-1.rpm?  and do i have to download all three .gz's
(-GLX, -dyn, and the original)?

if i have to install the .1-1.rpm, what command do i use?  rpm --install or
rpm --upgrade?  and after i've uncompressed the tar.gz('s), how do i "run"
the 'riva_install' file from the new directory?  i've cd'd into the
directory and typed "riva_install" (without the quotes) and it says bad
command.

ANY suggestions would be welcome!  all i really want to do is get into x
window so i can stop using windows!  at least i stumbled upon the 'mount'
command so i was able to mount the hda that contains the linux downloads
i've had to download and run in linux.
