Do a search of the hardware compatability lists that can be found Linux
Documentation Project servers.  I have been suprised at some of the hardware I
found supported (at least in the listings), and sometimes a bit disappointed but
what is not! :/

Or, you can read through the documentation that came with the modem.  In it
is probably a list of system requirements.  If it says it requires Windows XX,
then ...you guessed it.

Another source for information is the manufacturers web site (almost all of
them have one).  They may post the information on your specific model number,
or you may have to email a request for the specs.

Last, but not least, if you have access to a winbox...plug it in and see what
the autodetect says (it will install MS drivers most likely) and then look at
its specific properties for the device in sysinfo (or the MS equiv).  There
will probably be some sort of emulator in the list somewhere.

Any ways, there are hardware differences too, I am sure...but they would not be
too obvious to me as hardware is not my forte'.
