I have installed Red Hat 6.0 on my PC and have been attempting to set up
my modem and ppp settings in order to connect to my ISP.

I have created the required entries in the /etc/hosts, /etc/hosts.allow,
/etc/hosts.deny and /etc/HOSTNAME files, as well as settings in the
files in /etc/ppp but when I try to connect my mouse stops working. I
have tried running a connect script as well as the X dialler.

The only way I can get out of the desktop is to press the reset button
which forces a check on reboot.

Initially this was working OK and I could log in again, but now I get to
the login window and the mouse is still not working, nor can I type in
my user id and password.

I don't have the CD so can't do a reinstall, but I do have a boot disk.
I can boot from this but I get the same result. I downloaded the
rescue.img file but can't get it onto a floppy as it is 1440k and the
floppy disk is only 1.38mb !

The mouse is a logitech wheelmouse that was detected as 'some kind of
serial mouse' and the modem is a Pace 56k voice internal.

The last message I got after running the connect script was that the
connect speed wasn't supported, so the connect script failed.

Please can someone help me to get my system up and running again.
