I think what you're looking for is the parameters for the driver 
module for your card. I think you shuld do

modprobe <driver_module>

where <driver_module> is the compiled module (on RH those are somewhere 
in /lib/modules/...). You might need to pass some optinons to the driver 
and those usually look like io=0xnnn and irq=m.
