Welcome to the REAL world! It's good to have you with us.

First some basics that you may or may not know:

Linux, as a free open source os, has many distributions or "flavors."
Not every version of Linux is "Red Hat" ;-) As such, each distribution of
Linux is actually a compilation of Linux, plus a bunch of open
source programs or utilities that the distributor thinks you will find
useful but that, in most cases, they did not write nor do they support
them directly.

Linux does not have "Windows" <:-O or any other graphical user interface
(GUI) per se. There are a number of GUI's that are designed FOR Linux
but that are created and supported by the groups that write them.

You probably really mean the X-Windows server. If your running "Red Hat
5.2" then you probably are referring to XFree86 and the "fvwm" window
manager (also a separate program).

Now about your card. I believe the "ATI Rage Fury 128" is using the new
RAGE 128 Chipset. Unfortunately the XFree86 X-Server does not yet
support this chipset (Support limited to "Mach64").

Using the Mach64 X-Server, you should at least be able to get the basic
VGA functionality. Try downloading the latest version of XFree86 (3.3.3)
as RH5.2 comes with 3.3.2. You may also want to download the latest
version of "Superprobe" although it probably also will not recognize your
card.

See the xfree86 website for details on these, instructions are pretty
clear.

If that doesn't work, try running the basic SVGA X-Server (XF86_SVGA).

There is no such thing as a stupid question, that's how we learn. For
every "stupid" question one person has the courage to ask, 50 people will
read the post and benefit.

If you install RH5.2 out of the box (from CD) it usually does everything
you need to run Netscape from within the fvwm window manager. I am
assuming :-0 here that you took the "workstation" installation and didn't
try to hash you way through the "custom" install (ouch!) Once you get
your X-windows and fvwm running, you should be able to access Netscape
from Start->Applications->Networking->Netscape Communicator.
