I am using a Motorola ModemSURFER 28800.

It was originally on comm 4 and would NOT work no
matter what I did. After a week of fighting with
it I took out the modem and the IDE controller and
changed the addresses to comm 2 IRQ 3 (2F8) and
now it works just fine.

The other thing to know is that this is not
Windose and does not act like Windose. Windose
dials right away but Linux (assuming you use
ppp-go) takes a month of Sundays to get on the
phone. Don't know what it is doing but it lets you
almost dose off before it even lifts the virtual
receiver off the hook.

That is what worked for me anyway :)
