It is (they say) a Linux Server ]3. When I dial in through minicom I get a welcome message and "System ]Password:" prompt Yes. You have gone too far. They want you to run ppp before that point. use the command /usr/sbin/pppd /dev/ttyS0 57600 debug connect " /usr/sbin/chat -v '' AT OK AT####### CONNECT '\d\c'" (all on one line and make sure that you use the correct quote marks.) And you should be connected. See axion.physics.ubc.ca/ppp-linux.html for more details. ]4. I set up my /etc/resolv.conf like this: ] domain intersatx.net Not needed, but no harm This is the domain your sysem tacks on if you give it a one word name. So when you want the address of beezle, it will search for beezle.intersatx.net ] nameserver 207.235.95.4 ] nameserver 207.235.95.5 ]5. I set up /etc/host.conf like this: ] order hosts, bind ] multi on ]6. My /etc/ppp/pap-secrets: ] # Secrets for authentication using PAP ] # client server secret IP ]addresses ] <my username> * <my password> ]7. My /etc/ppp/options: ] -detach ] modem Use the ttyS# instead. ] lock ] crtscts ] defaultroute You probably do not ned the next three two and they might cause trouble. ] asyncmap 0 ] mtu 552 ] mru 552 Probably better to use user <YourISPname> because name is a priviledged option, but it makes no real diffeence. ] name <my ISP user name>
