    Whenever I start the X Window program, my screen goes blank and
completely locks up....
     I'm using the Redhat 5.2 from a boxed-set and have tried several
different servers (using Xconfig) including the standard VGA setting.  I
fairly sure that I am setting my Monitor correctly, so I think it must be
the video card.

    I'm brand new to linux and barely even know how to use, much less
troubleshoot it:)

    Is this video card just incompatible? Or am I doing something wrong? I
looked through the support section of www.redhat.com and had trouble finding
any patches or fixes. I've read that PnP must be disabled and I think I have
done this via BIOS, but again I could be doing this wrong....

    My video card is a PCI Diamond Stealth S220 with a Rendition Verite
v2100 chipset and 4 MB.

    If turns out that the video card is just incompatible, is there a
known-working PCI card that works well that I can purchase?
