Can anyone tell me where to look for the file that contains all the
directories that are in PATH. Whenever I make changes to the PATH
variable, the changes are not saved. I've tried to make changes via
Emacs to various .profile files, but none of the files I've looked at
don't contain the same PATH variables as when you type the command env
in a xterm window. I assume that when I do locate the file, I'll have to
make changes for every user on the system.
