I am new to Linux, but I have done much research on it, and it seems to be a great OS. I am looking forward to purchasing a new PC and Red Hat Linux, so I can learn how to create Web applications on this robust platform for our clients. I am an Internet developer with a big five consulting firm. I have extensive experience developing dynamic Web sites for the Microsoft Server platform. I would like to broaden my Web building experience by creating dynamic database Web applications on the Linux OS. I have spent a lot of time and thought to determine how to implement a dynamic database Web application on Linux, but I have not had any luck finding the information that I need. I would appreciate any advise on the following items. 1. Development products that support Linux 2. Major databases that run on Linux 3. Java development products that support Linux 4. How does Web server communicate with middle tier Java server applications? 5. Can JDBC be used to communicate with database on another machine? 6. Can Java parse HTML sent from client? 7. Can it build and send response HTML page back to browser? 8. JDBC Drivers for Oracle 9. JavaServer Pages 10. Transaction support
