Hi there. Please forgive what follows if it stuff that has been covered a zillion times before but... I've only just got into Linux, and did my first install the other night onto a Toshiba portable (which may or may not have been the most appropriate test platform). The Toshiba *was* running NT, networked to my main machine, which runs NT Server. The installation went much more smoothly than I expected, and I finally got AfterStep1.5 up and running, too, and found the whole thing ran like the clappers, and looked brilliant, too. I was impressed! Now the problem: the Toshiba uses a Xircom CreditCard Ethernet 10/100 network adapter, and I couldn't find anything approximating this during the install (and so didn't bother with any networking components). Subsequent investigation on the Xircom web site reveals no drivers, either. Anyone know (a) where, how, if, when I might be able to find appropriate drivers? And if the answer happens to be 'yes' to any of the above, does anyone have a quick-ish explanation for how one goes about retro-fitting networking capabilities to a Red Hat Linux 5.2 installation that doesn't currently have any? I really don't want to bomb out of the Linux experiment so early on, but without networking, I'm not really going to find it terribly useful. So: All answers gratefully received, and an e-mail to howardjr@bigpond.com would also be much, much appreciated. Best Regards HJR
