What device are you trying to mount Ur cd-Rom as? in order to answer
your question I need more information. but if I had to take a guess it
would sound like you tried to mount /dev/cdrom and it is telling you
that it is not a valid block device? /dev/cdrom is (usually) a symlink
to the actual device,, in my case I have an IDE cd rom on the second ide
channel as a slave device and my cdrom is /dev/hdd what I have done is
created a link between /dev/hdd and /dev/cdrom using ln -s /dev/hdd
/dev/cdrom
after that I can mount my cdrom using the command '
mount -t auto /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom (or whereever you want it)

if you don;t know what device your cdRom is you can usually look at the
startup messages and it will usually tell you what it is detecting it as
(if it is detecting it) you can view the startup messages by using the
command dmesg or U can output it to a file so you can view it easier
eg dmesg > foo
then use Ur fav editor to look at the file foo
Hope this helps
if not email me and I'll help ya any way I can

Marc

ps remove the Z's from my address to get my real email address
