Personally, I'd go ahead and scrap that 500 meg HD...the amount of
power that it drains isn't worth the little amount of space that it
provides. If you are deadset on keeping that HD, you can do a
barebones install onto it, but you won't have much space for anything
other than the OS. Your other option is to make a new partition for
Linux out of a piece of that first FAT32 partition (you'll have to
move some Windows files around I imagine). Bear in mind that the
Linux root partition has to come before the 1,024th cylinder. So, I'd
try and make some room on that first 2gig partition (800 megs ought to
do it, but you ought to give it a gig just to be on the safe side).
Once the space is available, you can resize the primary partition is
DOS fdisk (down to 1,000 megs or so), which will provide the space
necessary to create the new Linux partition. Then you can format the
new second partition with the Linux fdisk and install Linux onto
there. I don't have any experience with LILO because I use System
Commander, but you will need one of those types of programs to do a
multiple boot into Linux and Wintendo 98. Hope that that helped.
