I just picked up my copy of RedHat 5.1. I'm a newbie to Linux, and maybe I should have asked these questions before I went and bought the software. My hardware configuration is as follows: Intel AL440LX motherboard Pentium II 333mhz processor 128 megs SDRAM 6 gig Western Digital hard disk on primary IDE First, I have a Toshiba SD-M1102 IDE DVD-ROM as the primary drive on the secondary chain. Will Linux be able to recognize and use this drive? I don't care if it will read DVDs or not, I just need to be able to read CD-ROMs with it. Second, I've heard that Linux does not support the AGP graphics port. I have a Diamond Stealth G460 AGP card. Will X-Windows run properly using this card? Third, I have an Imation LS-120 internal 3 1/2" disk drive as the slave on my secondary IDE chain (not on the floppy controller). The same goes for this as the DVD ROM, I don't care about reading the 120 meg disks, just regular old floppies. The BIOS says that all of these drives are bootable, but the DVD wouldn't boot Windows 98 directly...I had to install DOS from a floppy first, and then Windows from there. I plan to use either Partition Magic or System Commander, so I'm really just asking about hardware compatibility. Thanks, Rusty Tanton
