ok here's my scenario, I'm trying to switch my workstation at work to Redhat
5.0, I've read the Net howto and net-3 howto, so far I've comeup with theis
problem.
the network in the 206.186.211.* range I have my ip address the router
address etc etc. I entered it in the appropriate files, but I can only ping
myself, via 127.0.0.1 or my ip address, I cann't ping the router or any
other win95 stations? I am a little confused with how to properly insert
which addresses with "route"
another thing, reading the docs, it states the a Nameserver is to be local.
We don't run a dns server, the NT box is strictly for database sharing,
internal email and storage. talking with our isp, they say the dns server
doesn't have to be local, We can use their addresses for resolution, no
luck... as I can't ping anybody or anything. Does the Nameserver have to be
local? Can I use the same Linux box as a dns server for address resolution?
or Can I install use the Nt server for resolution? Provided I configure dns
on the server...
