Well, I have a Debian distribution, and a CIRRUS card on a 486dx2 with
VLBus, no PCI. So I don't know what it is from, but I tried twice to use
XF86Setup, and it always failed.
First, when you use XF86Setup, do not choose xdm: it starts the graphic
interface at the boot. So if your XF86Config is bad, tou run into problems.
So restart your XF86Setup without xdm, and once you have rebooted, start the
graphic interface with "startx".

If it fails to run into graphic mode, use the classical "xf86config" to
configure your X.

Then if it still fails, look at the other mails, check that you have the
sufficient and adequate packages for the Xserver and so.
