Did you said you have Linux and no Unix? Must not be the same Linux that
I am using, which is definetly an Unix system.

My Goodness! Caldera must be a really bad distribution if it
requires you to do all this mess!!! If this is the case, you
also have to unmount the floppies. Way too much trouble.

Use mtools instead. This will allow you to copy things to and from
the floppy, check it, even format it, as a normal user and without
having to go through the mount/unmount rutine. Slackware, RedHat,
and Debian install mtools by default.

Check out these commands:

# Check the directory listing of drive A:
mdir a:

# Copy the file A:\DISKFILE.EXT to ~/unix-file.ext
mcopy a:diskfile.ext ~/unix-file.ext

# Copy the file ~/unixfile.ext to drive B:
mcopy ~/unixfile.ext b:

# Change current directory to A:\BAK
mcd a:/bak

# Copy the file ~/unixfile.bak to A:\BAK\DISKFILE.BAK
mcopy ~/unixfile.bak a:diskfile.bak

# Format the diskette in drive B:
mformat b:

Simple, don't you think?
