I'm thinking about buying another Hard drive, the Diamond Max Plus 60 comes
with it's own ide controller (Maxtor ATA/100). My question is has anyone had
any experience with these? (good/bad/otherwise).

I have one, and it works fine.  No problems whatsoever.  Both my hdds are 
maxtor, the other one is an older one, but still working fine (just a 
little noisier :) ).
