I started with win 3.0 on a 286. I am currently running 2 complete (paid
for) versions of win98, on 2 seperate AMD K6ii 3d @ 500Hz computers. The
point is I built these machines 1 piece at a time. From the 286 to current,
I have owned several versions of windows. I have had countless harddrives
and computer configurations. I also like to run programs that arnt from
microsoft and dont have sighned code.
Microsoft has gone way too far this time. If its microsoft or nothing, ill
take nothing, ( or at least a basicly free OS.) (I have 2 paid for copies of
Linux)!!!
I say its time to show "our" teeth and rally a full boycott. Lets see how
Bill likes 0 sales.

I can relate to this as I started out in the days of Vic-20's and
Amiga 1000's and IBM XT's (8086) and have even owned a wang mini, a
remington mini and an old 8080 PET 8-)

I like linux. I like the low overhead it has on systems compared to ms
but unfortunately the tools I use for production (image manipulation
and 3D rendering) require ms windoze to run... I have been following
the vmware and wine newsgroups and compatibilty information for 2
years now waiting for my tools to be fully supported and coding issues
to be resolved. Some are beginning to look like they will work
flawlessly and I am currently deciding whether or not to try Linux
Redat 7 as I have downloaded the ISO's.

To be fair you would have to admit that if it wasn't for some of the
vision bill gates has brought to the industry we miay still be using
old versions of dos ;) Or maybe the amiga with its new (in 1985) GUI
would have become the "standard".

Thats cool but you have to take in acount that there are so many people out
there that depend on winblows
do to lack of computer knoledge. I would that about 70% of the people online
today including all 100% of the AOL uers don't know jack shit when it comes to
computers. There for Bill Gates is still going to making billions in the years
to come.

LINUX rules.

Piont well made. Most of the users out there are like I use to be -- point, click
and drool. While linux is frustrating to start to learn it can do anything you
want and more and more compnaies are staring to learn this. There are several in
my area that use linux only and it is growing.
