Using Redhat7, external modem.

My modem dials with kppp, but fails to connect to the isp. It says 'ppp
daemon died unexpectedly'. When i try wvdial it says wrong username wrong
password wron phonenumber, but still, the wvdial.conf is :
[Modem0]
Modem = /dev/ttyS2
Baud = 57600
Init1 = ATZ
Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 S11=55 +FCLASS=0
SetVolume = 1
Dial Command = ATDT
Init4 = ATM1L1

[Dialer Defaults]
Modem = /dev/ttyS2
Baud = 57600
Init1 = ATZ
Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 S11=55 +FCLASS=0
SetVolume = 1
Dial Command = ATDT
Init4 = ATM1L1

[Dialer zonnet]
Username = amons1
Password = enz
Phone = 7500300
Inherits = Dialer Defaults
Stupid mode = 0

When i change the phonenumber into +31307500300 still the same problem, as
well as using 'amons' as username.
Strange?

My resolv.conf is:

nameserver 62.58.50.5
nameserver 62.58.50.6
search

Dialling goes ok, but the connection dies as soon it it made. What is wrong?

Strangely, when i use dip, it does nothin in term-mode.

Please help!

Can't say for sure, but do you know if the "authentication" protocol is
correct? I mistakenly chose not to configure it during setup and got the
same response you're getting. It's usually "pap", but can be "chap". If
you've got one set, try the other and see what happens. I'm pretty sure you
can reset this using linuxconfig (Drake Config).

I'm not a linux expert but I had a similar problem.
 It's a good idea to change the line Baud = 57600 to Baud = 115200 as it
may speed up your connection with the ISP.
Also, in resolv.conf you've got to add the domain of your provider in the search
line.
eg.
nameserver 62.58.50.5
nameserver 62.58.50.6
search myisp.com

It's a good idea to ask at the hepldesk of your isp as they're going to give you
the right configuration.

Good luck
