The first thing, to be able to have a host answer up by your domain name, you will need to have a DNS server pointed to whatever your IP address is of that server. If you can get a static IP from your ISP, then they can set up the DNS records for you to host it on that static IP. You just have to make sure that the domain is registered and pointed to there DNS servers. If you're stuck with a dynamic IP, you might want to look into some dynamic DNS services out on the net. There are some free ones and some that charge. Check out www.dynip.com Hope this helps, Kev On Sun, 29 Oct 2000 01:02:33 +1100, "peter norris" <norris_peter@dingoblue.net.au> wrote: >my domain name is registered but when i try to put it into my netconf still >no-one outside of my computer can see it but if they type in the dynamicly >assigned ip address assigned by my isp they can see my page on my computer >is there away that it can be seen by the www by the name i also want to get >a static ip address how or where can i get one for my computer as i have >tried to do a search on the web for this information >please can anyone help me >peter >norrisj5@hotmail.com > >
