launch yast2 under KDE or another one.
You can find a module launcher for the sound, follow the indications on the
screen and you have to be able to set up your sound card!
I have the same linux and sound card, I 've done by this way!!!
Bye and don't forget:

I am also new to Linux. I am using Mandrake Linux 7.0 Deluxe.
I ran setup from the prompt and went into the sound configuration and it
detected my sound blaster live value card and said I need the module
emuk10k1.o

and that it needs to be in my "search path".

I am curious to know where is the search path that this module is suppose to
go in?

I am guessing that search path is the the equivalent in dos to directories
that are in your path in the autoexec.bat file.
