Does any one know how to make Samba accept both encrypted as well as plain
passwords?

We use a mix of Windows 95/98/NT clients and I haven't had a problem with
the passwords. The setting is alway to use encrypted passwords.....

Our setup: Samba 2.0.7 on Solaris 7 running on a Sun E450.

I've used encrypted passwords, and everything has been fine. If you're
trying to configure the /etc/smb.conf via linuxconf, you won't have the
option available to you (that I've been able to find). Linuxconf will also
mangle the smb.conf file. I recommend editing it the good ol' fashioned
way. It's commented very well.

Or get webadmin, it help me quite a bit while setting up my new network.
SWAT on my box seemed to mangle my smb.conf file, I would add a line,
run SWAT, and SWAT would delete the line I just added! ;0

I'm sorry it should be webmin, not webadmin.
