menus called kppp or kppd.
(If you are using the kde gui) or pppd if using another. This is probably
in your Internet sub menu. This program provides an easy to use graphical
interface to set up your modem without having to write a script.
The setup option allows you to select various options and writes the script
for you (which you can then edit if you need to). The most difficult part is
finding you modems device connection, The default is dev/modem but I found
my modem to be on dev/cua1, trial and error was my method, eg select a
device option and then query modem to see if it responds, if not then try
another dev.

I hope this helps, if not I will send you a copy of my modem script fotr
Suse 6.4, that should help.

Ps Linux only works with hardware modems, if you have a soft/winmodem you
may have a problem.

hi,

10x for your answer.

1. I have found the kppp program. I ran it and it works fine.
1. u have found that your modem was connected to dev/cua1 because your modem
was connected to com2. com1 will make it dev/cua0.
2. sorry, I have SuSE 6.4 and not SuSE 6.2 .
3. but can kppp write the script to a file, which i can run the file later?
the problem is that I need the script/file.
