Its is a shame to I pay good money for a DSL connection and nobody at "MA BELL" can tell me how to configure PPPoE for Linux, much less have any clue about Linux. I hope that someone here can help me find the appropriate NIC driver and PPPoE software. I have a Kingston 10/100 KNE110TX NIC and an Alcatel 5260 modem, standard issues from Bell. I am running Mandrake 7.0, and was told buy Kingston to use the "tulip" driver supplied with Mandrake. I downloaded PPPoE software (enternet100src.zip) from the 63.196.151.75 site. I followed the directions for installation as stated. I ran ifconfig and got a response, but when I tried to execute then command start-pppoe, I got a usage error message saying $USERID not recognized by pppd. I cannot call anyone for tech support at Bell because as mentioned, they don't have a clue, and NTS, the PPPoE software provider, doesn't give tech support period. I surely would appreciate any advice as I am a newbie at Linux. Thanks,

Did you enter your username and password in /etc/ppp/pap-secrets and /etc/ppp/chap-secrets ? It seems to not recognize your username. Can you ping Bells server?
