Hi All; Just tring redhat 6.2 linux for the first time. Managed to install workstation, but having problems with setting up a GUI. What I have; 486DX2/66 20Meg RAM Cirrus logic GL5429 card KTX SVGA PLUS monitor no mouse... The monitor's manual calls it a "Non-interlaced SVGA Monitor is 14inch intelligent Color Monitor with Ultrahigh resolution of up to 1024X768 (Non-interlaced)... providing auto-center controlling and auto-sizing..." It features "multi-mode at horizontal frequencies of 30KHz to 48KHz mode and vertical frequencies of 50Hz to 90Hz... Compatiable with standard IBM VGA, Extended VGA, super VGA and Non-interlaced SVGA modes as well as newly proposed VESA ergonomic standards" The monitor itself only has a small logol on the topleft front that reads KTX SVGA Plus. When I tried to start the GUI, it comes up with a patterened background and a X cursor, but then nothing else. It will not change resolutions via ctrl-alt-+, but will exit with ctrl-alt- back delete. Where it says that the mouse could not be read or something. What do I do/not do to get a GUI? do I just need a mouse?

Having a mouse really is necessary to run X. Even if there is a way to
start it without a mouse it would be almost impossible to use (it is more
reliant on a mouse than windoze.) Do yourself a favor and get a mouse. :-)
