I just installed Mandrake 7.0 on my system along with Windows 98 in a dual boot system. Could anyone tell me if it is possible to uninstall Linux on my shared hard drive with Windows and reinstall Linux on another hard drive by itself. I am more than willing to refomat both drives if this is necessary. I think I got in way over my head with this one. Please help. Thanks

If you installed this linux yourself, and know how to install a hard
drive, its easy.
just use fdisk in linux to remove all the linux partitions from you
primary hard drive. (swap, primary) and any others you may have made.
Install the 2nd hard drive and make sure bios recognizes it. Put in your
linux boot disk and tell it to use your second hard drive to install.
usually /dev/hdb for an ide hard drive. No need to re-install windows since
its not going anywhere. Use a boot disk to run "fdisk /mbr" from a dos
prompt to get rid of lilo. Linux will reinstall lilo upon installtion.
good luck

I have just installed Mandrake 7.0 (CD from Maximun Linux May/June 2000) to a Micropolis extermal 1GB SCSI drive with an Adaptec AHA-7850 SCSI card. The insallation interface is quite good and even does the partitioning automatically if you choose. Just remember Linux and win-modems are not compatible. So I have yet to get it on the net/network but will. Too early to tell but so far the KDE enivironment is pretty cool but you will find yourself in a terminal monitir more than you would like. Installing and navigation using unix shell is NOT my strong suit but it's fun anyway. garmo@mninter.net Trey E <treybob@swbell.net> wrote in message news:gV755.101$G42.29770@nnrp2.sbc.net... > I just installed Mandrake 7.0 on my system along with Windows 98 in a dual > boot system.
