I recently purchased Mandrake 7.0 complete and have been attempting to install it as a dual boot with Windows; however, all attempts have failed. I recieved a message that I needed to Create a Linux partition below the 1024 cylinder by creating a Native Linux partition for th root mount point call "/" below the 1024 cylinders, and create a 128M Linux swat mount point partitionany where on the hard drive on the available free space and need not to be below 1024. Can anyone explain this and explain how to do it? Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

You may have to get the new lilo, which will allow you to boot above the 1024 point, or get partition magic to resize your drive and move your info to the back of the drive. I had to learn the hard way and lost all my info. Now I set up a new drive with at least a 2 gig linux partition before I ever put a dos partition on it. Or you can get winlinux which will allow you to install over windows and not lose any files. <dhaarsc@my-deja.com> wrote in message news:8fjuqh$vu7$1@nnrp1.deja.com... > I recently purchased Mandrake 7.0 complete and have been attempting to > install it as a dual boot with Windows; however, all attempts have > failed. > I recieved a message that I needed to Create a Linux partition below > the 1024 cylinder by creating a Native Linux partition for th root > mount point call "/" below the 1024 cylinders, and create a 128M Linux > swat mount point partitionany where on the hard drive on the available > free space and need not to be below 1024. > > Can anyone explain this and explain how to do it? > > > Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ > Before you buy.
