I've installed Linux (Mandrake version 7) and everything appears to be ok when booting up. However, when logging on to Linux and typing in KDE (to run the desktop) it attempts to load the X server but informs me that the server has not been installed. When in the XF86Setup to install the X Windows server and selecting the video card it informs me that XF86_SVGA server is not installed, can anyone help me to install this server so that I can set up X Windows. Thanx in anticipation. Dave

Try using Linuxconf to install the new server... Be sure to mount the CD drive with the Mandrake CD first or it won't find the right files. -- From Damien, http://www.linuxshop.com.au "DJ2000" <dharri001DELETECAPS@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:8eq0kd$mkp$1@supernews.com... > I've installed Linux (Mandrake version 7) and everything appears to be ok > when booting up. Shouldn't you start the desktop using "startx" or maby better "startx &" this starts the X-server and your default dektopmanager.
