I cant seam to figure out how to connect to my isp in redhat linux 5.2.
First off I am having trouble with the irqs and setup of the ethernet
card and the modem. The ethernet card (non pci) can be detected in my 686
but not in my 386. Linux does not even test for an eth0 on boot. How do I
fix that?
How do I set up the modem? It does have pnp and jumpers to disable pnp.
Next I need to connect my modem to the isp. How do I do that?
Then I will try to set up ipmasquerading but I've got some web pages to help
me with that.

Thanx
Chad

Oh yea. Anyone ever have any trouble with the boot disk stopping just after
the message Ramdisk image found at block 0 ?

Read the Ethernet HOWTO, the NET3-4-HOWTO, the PPP HOWTO and stop crossposting.

The PPP and modem setup can be found in nearly every Linux book on the shelf
so I won't go through that... I figure if you're able to get the OS
installed you are able to read and learn about Modem PPP. You may also
check the title "Repairing PCs with Linux" (atleast I think that's the
title, Borders has it)

About the boot disk for RH5.2.... I've noiced that rawrite.exe is kinda
flaky.. it doesn't seem to create a readable boot image every time (on the
Factory CD I've got anyhow). I tried several diferent disks on three
different box's but only two out of 11 boot.img rawrite's worked more then
once!.... lame To say the least.
I did notice that when the autoboot.bat file was copied over as well
everything worked fine. According to everything I've read about RH5.2
install this in not needed when rawriting boot.img. You might try though.
It worked for me
   Peace,
      Jeremy Brooks
