Has anyone successfully installed Redhat on a Compaq Deskpro 5133
computer. The machine in question has a Matrox Millenium PCI video card
and either onboard Ethernet or a 3com 10/100 PCI ethernet card. I have
not had much success with it at all...:(

Mike

PS. I have successfully installed it on a HP P5/90 so I am not
a complete idiot! :)

Mike,
I am not familiar with the onboard ethernet for the compaq line, but if
the 3com board you mention is a 3c900 or 3c905 (perhaps followed by an XL),
then you won't get a standard kernel to work with it. You will have to do
what I did, and steal (or borrow) a card that is supported in the stock kernel
to do the install, then get the new driver from Donald Becker's site.

I hope this helps,
Jim Gifford
