ok...here's the skinny.....

I have a cable modem (dhcp)....have a linux box set up doing MASQ and
ipchains (no major feat). I have 4 boxes behind the linux 'firewall'. 2
linux...2 Windows 2k. I use 192.168.10.x behind firewall & 10.1 as gateway
for internal. Windows boxes have no problems whatsoever.

I use UUNet core name servers...cuz comcast nameservers have allot of
issues...allot of the time. So in /etc/resolv.conf ....I have the
following:

nameserver 198.6.1.1
nameserver 198.6.1.2

Seems to work fine.....for windows hosts .....BUT...

my linux boxes shit the bed.....can't resolve host names half the
time.......they start off fine, then all of the sudden forget where their
going.
I do a sniff and see allot of 'Who has 192.168.10.1' (local machines
gateway). I sniff while trying to check a pop mail account I have.....it
starts fine...see the tcp communication between me local box and the pop
server.....then all of the sudden....BOOM 'WHO HAS 192.168.10.1' in the
capture.......like they (the linux boxes)all the sudden forget where in the
hell their default gateway is and no longer know where to go.

Any ideas would be very appreciated!! I'm pulling my hair out (figuratively
speaking) trying to figure this one out.....again.....Windows2k boxes
configured with the same TCP/IP info (except individual IPs). What am I
missing?

Thanks in advance for reading and replying
