Hi,

I'm totally new to linux and am wondering if I could use it for a little
project I've been thinking up.. I want to use a spare computer of mine as a
dvd player / tivo type system - is this possible with Linux? I know tivo
uses linux but wonder if divx / dvd/ tv-out apps/hardware exist for the os.
Thanks!
-Sam

A bit of work. Find a TV video card that supports video4linux. You can use
http://www.MPlayerHQ.hu/homepage/ and look at the FAQ and the source code for
divx/dvd/tv-out apps.
