HERE IS MY PROBLEM Defined:

I have Linux rh7.2, Apache 1.3.22, wuftpd latest version. FTP, Telnet =
and a pop server running.=20
This pipes into a linksys router. I have three other pc's on the router =
with the server.

This happens on all the pc's except the server

1. when I bring up a webpage ony half of the page comes in fast then it =
dies then 30-60sec later the rest comes in. it stalls=20

2. FTP socket connected waiting for message then it times out=20

3. mail. I hit send and receive on my laptop it takes forever to check =
the mail=20

4. telnet, I have time to shovel snow before the loggin screen appears.=20

THE KICKER

1. If I log into webmin on any machine 192.168.1.100:10000, I skate =
around like a champ. NO Speed bumps

2. If I use a dialup account and sling in from the outside I have no =
problem getting into FTP. my web, telnet or mail.

3. The problem comes and goes at will. One minute everything is ok then =
for the next day or two its back to the same old crap

The Million Dollar question is why did this just happen after working =
for three months without a hitch?=20
How can I fix this problem? What is the Problem?

Please respond to my email address also dj@internet-demon.com.

Thanks jobesd

Hi,
Your description is very interesting, try netstat -natu find whats going
on and who is listening to what. If its a routing problem (likely) reset
your linksys box. I had a problem where I had carrier but no
connectivity to a box on my network. I reset the switch (linksys) and
the problem went away. (would have been nice if I would have tried this
be for rebuilding my ip stack on the box in question.)
Look at your logs. find out if you see anything that sticks out like a
multitude of enties that don't add up. Are your ips static? If not try
setting them mannualy. I've seen DHCP get lost in Etherspace more than
once. Hows your firewall's config? Is all well?
When all else fails divide and conquer. Begin in one place and remove
possibilties until every thing is cool.

If I were you I would ditch Telnet ASAP. Use SSH2. Much more secure.
If you could post more details of your setup.
Hope I gave you some good ideas,
Feend
