Hello there,

I have been using my dell machine as gateway using redhat 6.0 to 7.0 with
out any problem for past almost three years but after upgrading to redhat
7.1. The machine is not able reaching dns server. when I check nslookup and
dig keep getting Connection timed out; no server could be reach message
and same thing with redhat 7.2 too. I have checked all resolv.conf,
host.conf, hosts and nsswitch.conf all dns info and lookup files are there.
I was also trying to telnet the dns server through port 53 but keep getting
unknown host. But from my windows machine the dns servers are reachable
works fine.

If you have some idea, please drop me a line.

Thanks, Pawlos

Hello,
It all depends on how you connect to the internet. Do you dial up?
Have you tried to use wvdail?

Thanks

I had a similar problem with 7.2. Solved mine by stopping iptables and
ipchains. I'm behind a router firewall anyway.

Hope this helps.
